I was so inspired by Sally Dells' edible cookie dough recipe so I had to go recreate some for myself. Also, in the name of paying credit where it's due, I've shared the link to her video below at Cupcake Jemma.
It's such a fun thing to make as there are so many ways you can customise it and you can use it for all kinds of fun things. I use mine in cakesicles and cake bars, I stuff it inside chocolate bars, you can add it in between cake layers, or just use it as it is to decorate. Or obviously you can just bung it in a tub and enjoy it on its own.
Here's what you'll need if you want to make some yourself:
120g Softened Unsalted Butter
70g Caster Sugar
45g Soft Light Brown Sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
2 tbsp Plain Yogurt
105g Plain Flour (spread on a baking tray and bake at 160C for 10 mins)
Do not skip the last step as contrary to belief it is non heat-treated flour that is most likely to make you sick as raw it contains a lot of germs. So pre-heat your oven, pop your tray of flour in and let it cool completely before sifting into your cookie dough mixture - otherwise it will melt your butter and make the whole thing super runny. (But don't worry if this does happen, it's easily fixable - just pop the whole thing in the fridge to firm back up.)
Then it's just a matter of adding chocolate chips, vanilla extract, melted chocolate, cereal, brownie pieces, biscoff, caramel sauce, marshmallows, fruit, nuts, jelly beans, sprinkles, maltesers... I mean the list is endless.
